# Sydney Bike Rave > Sydney's loudest group ride: a volunteer-run, all-welcome monthly group bike ride through Sydney, after dark. Lights on, music up, leave no one behind. Always free to join. One year old. Sydney Bike Rave is not a club and has no membership. Once a month, after dark, hundreds of riders take over the city for a rolling block party at a relaxed, social pace. No racing, no drop, no egos. Roadies, fixie riders and e-bike commuters are all welcome, at all skill levels. - Website: https://sydney-bike-rave.netlify.app - Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sydney_bike_rave/ (@sydney_bike_rave) - Email: sydneybikerave@gmail.com - Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia - Cost: Free. Sign the rider waiver before the ride at https://sydney-bike-rave.netlify.app/waiver (takes about 30 seconds: name, contacts, acknowledgements and a signature). Everyone signs for each ride. 2. Bring a screenshot or your confirmation email to the meet point. 3. Turn up with a roadworthy bike and lights. Wheels roll on time. ## What to bring - A working bike with front and rear lights - A helmet (mandatory; it is the law in NSW) - Water and a charged phone - Warm layers for after dark Leave at home: racing egos, personal speakers (a DJ and sound system run the music for the whole pack; if you want to bring a big party speaker, email sydneybikerave@gmail.com first), glass bottles, and anything droppable. ## The six rules 1. Stay behind the lead. Never ride ahead of the front marshal; they set the pace and route. 2. Hold your line. Predictable beats fast. Signal, call hazards, do not swerve. 3. Obey the road. Red means red. We share the streets with cars, pedestrians and the law. 4. Look after each other. See someone stopped, stop too. We leave nobody behind. 5. Road-legal e-bikes only. Pedal-assist e-bikes up to the NSW limit (250W, cuts out at 25 km/h) are welcome. No throttle-only, high-powered or modded bikes, e-scooters or mopeds. 6. Safe riders only. Ride within your limits and to the conditions. Marshals ride front, side and back to keep the pack together. ## FAQ - Do I need to sign the waiver? Yes, everyone signs before each ride. It keeps the volunteer organisers covered and means we know who to call if something goes wrong. Bring a screenshot or your confirmation email to the meet point. - How experienced do I need to be? All skill levels are welcome. We ride as a group on open roads, so stay predictable, hold your line and follow the marshals. If you are nervous, reach out on Instagram before the ride. - What kind of bike do I need? Anything roadworthy with working brakes and lights: road bike, commuter, fixie, or a road-legal pedal-assist e-bike. A helmet is mandatory (NSW law). Illegal e-motos, high-powered or throttle-only e-bikes and other non-road-legal bikes are not welcome. - What about the weather? Light rain, we ride. Heavy rain or extreme heat, we postpone. Always check Instagram before heading out for the final call. - Can I bring friends or a speaker? Friends, absolutely; just get them to sign the waiver too. Personal speakers, please leave them at home; a DJ and sound system run the music so the whole pack rides together. If you have a big party speaker you would like to bring, email sydneybikerave@gmail.com first. ## Merch Small-batch Sydney Bike Rave tees. $30 minimum donation, pay what you want on top. Sizes XS to XXL, limited runs. Grab one at the meet point from 5:30pm, or DM @sydney_bike_rave to set aside your size. Every dollar goes back into lights, sound and keeping the rides free. ## Pages - Home: https://sydney-bike-rave.netlify.app/ - Events and route: https://sydney-bike-rave.netlify.app/events - Merch: https://sydney-bike-rave.netlify.app/merch - Rider waiver: https://sydney-bike-rave.netlify.app/waiver
